The eagerly anticipated session of the Constitutional Court stated that the Lisbon Treaty is in line with the Czech constitution.

"The Treaty of Lisbon amending the Treaty on European Union and Treaty on establishing the European Community and Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union are not in conflict with the constitutional order".

Well, people of Ireland turned down the threaty.

And I'm convinced, that majority of people in member states would turn it down also in this form, if they've got chance to do it in referendum.

It ain't the things you don't know that get you into trouble; it's the things you are convinced of and which ain't so.

I'm with eso on this one. How do you know that you're right and he's wrong? Why do you think that the UK Labour Government wouldn't have a referendum, first on the Constitution and then on what was, in effect, a re-hashed Constitution, now called the Lisbon Treaty?!

I don’t, but I’m not surprised at all.
On the other hand, I was pleasantly surprised by the Court’s reasoning.

I like how the supporters of the Lisbon Treaty are exalted by the decision without paying attention to the reasoning.

Yvan, this is not Waterloo for the opponents, this is Dunkerque!

The reasoning crosses the planes of the Brusselites and in many respects backs the opponents of the Treaty.

See e.g. this quote from the official abstract:
This makes makes many of the planes of the authors of the Treaty effectively not working (without Czech consent).

Czech repubic isn't UK with established political culture.

EU rules aren't the best ones but they at least restrict some activities of the Czech politicians.

In the Czech republic many top politcians :
    - have contacts with the bosses of organized crime
    - have very few respect to the law and judicial system
    - have (indirect) contacts with the Russian secret agents
    - support Russian imperial policy and dependency the Czech republic to Russia
    - are involved in corruption
    - have contacts with the companies involves at the big states contracts

Under this condition I prefer more control over Czech politicians.
I trust much more EU then our leaders like Mr. Klaun.

Well I don't know so much about UK politicians, but similar things could be said about Italian and German political scene.

If you say "I prefer control over Czech politicians" - by who?

"EU rules... restrict some activities of the Czech politicians"
    Are you really so naive?

Apparently, the established political culture you are seeking for is not a democratical one, because your hatred to some of the politicians, maybe even to one single politician, makes you to attack other people’s right to be represented by their elected representatives.

I only wonder whether it is a slave mentality of yours or an elitist disregard to the interests of other people.
