I'm going to be moving to Prague, probably in about 6 months. I'm thinking about what area to find an apartment in. I would like to be central, or close to the center. Two areas which I don't know too much about, but which seem pretty close to the center, are Smichov and Vinohrady. Does anyone have any tips - what kind of areas are they (residential?) and if they're well-connected (my job will be in Mala Strana).

Vinohrady is typical Prague's residential area, with very good metro (line A is going through Vinohrady, with several stops there, directly to Malá Strana) and tram connection to city centre.
