I am trying to translate one of Alexandra Berkova's stories, ‘Kdybyt’. All part of my struggles to learn Czech at an advanced age. I have it on audio tape so while I do not understand most of it, it does help me with my pronunciation – and of course I do learn some vocabulary in the process- although my powers of retention are not what they used to be. I have translated the opening passage and get the general meaning but I would appreciate a proper Czech translation. Would some kind soul help out? Thanking you in anticipation Vykoupala* jsem se. Navoněla jsem se. Vytrhala jsem si obočí a nakreslila nové. Vytrhala jsem si řasy a nalepila nové. A pak jsem tam stála, po zuby nahá, a čekala čekala čekala — a on přišel a já měla takovou radost, že jsem oblítla lampu a sedla mu na rameno: nemáš hlad? povídám, nemáš žízeň? nepotřebuješ podrbat na zádech? — tak to nebylo. On vůbec nepřišel.
