Could someone explain the difference between mohu mit and muze mit ? Would using either cause any confusion – say in a supermarket, for example?
mohu mit is related to ja (I), e.g. (ja) mohu mit muze mit comes with on, ona, ono (he, she, it). the whole word in sg and pl (all present) looks like this: ja mohu ty muzes on, ona, ono muze my muzeme vy muzete oni mohou As for the confusion; if you use it in a wrong way on public and people know you are foreign (cannot hide the accent), it probably would not be a big deal - I do not think so. Depends on circumstances.
Thanks for that, Dannae. I arrived at the same conclusion about its use - I don't think it would raise too many eyebrows! Anyway, as you explained it, the rule should not be too difficult to remember.
i'm confused now moct is the infinitive?.. mohl is the past/ conditional form, no? I thought mužu was the first person? and muže the third person..
Cool! Yeah my teacher said Já mohu is archaic. I guess it depends on where you are. I'm going to stick with mužu and try and be passively aware of mohu. But I don't think I've ever heard it.
