In a few months I will be leaving America for an academic year exchange. I am puzzled with the language, culture, and basicly everything else. I'm looking for someone to answer some questions and give me tips on starting to learn the language. Thanks, Rosie

    Rosie,

We would be happy to answer any questions that you might have about the Czech Republic, its culture, language, etc.

One piece of advice we would like to give is not to be intimidated by the language. It is true that as a Slavic language it is very different from English, but it can be learned.

We would recommend buying a Czech study book with a tape or a CD so you can start listening to the language. It would speed the learning process if you were immersed in the language and forced to speak it.

If you have any specific questions, please post them on the bulletin board again so that others can provide feedback also.

    Best of luck,
    Local Lingo
