I have in the past sent some items from the US, and it usually took around 10 days. On December 8th I sent a package from the US, and it still has not arrived as of yesterday, over two weeks later. Is that normal for this time of year?
It was mostly candy--stuff from the US, like Hershey Kisses, that she says they can't get there. All I wrote on the form was "candy" and the guy at the post office said I did not have to declare a value, which seemed unusual, since I did other times I sent things overseas. I just hope it didn't get screwed up somehow and will never get delivered.
I mail all kinds of packages all over the world due to my business. I have to fill out declaration forms with a value box filled in every time. It's possible that it is still in customs, or might have been confiscated. My GF had a large box of chocolate confiscated at Heathrow airport this year. She said when it went through the x-ray machine the TA's thought it was plastic explosives. Imagine that!? I would give it a litle more time, due to the holidays. I forgot to ask. Did you mail it Parcel Post or Priority?
With low dollar many Czechs started to buy goods from USA over internet. They say customs have problem with keep up with this flood and delivery times prolonged significantly because of that.
If it went regular Priority, it becomes regular ground as soon as it leaves the US border. If it went Priority International, it can take 10 business days to get there. In my case, it was a package that went to Japan.
It was the priority flat rate box that costs around $48.00. (6 inches X 12 inches X 12 inches). I know it goes by air from the US, but not sure what happens after that. I'm just concerned that the customs form was not completed properly, and if not, what do they do with the package? Today is 14 business days since shipped.
What are some US products that you cannot get in the Czech Republic? My friend in the CR has so far received from msome candy she cannot get there as well as Silly Putty.
No, I didn't get a tracking number. I didn't think they had that feature for overseas packagages. I'll have to look to see if I still have the receipt. (And thanks for your concern).
I found out that she has not received four packagages that should have been there by Christmas, and one of the packages was sent in November. So they must be overloaded at the post office...
