Yummy isn't it? I'm curious, i've heard that this soup requires an "aquired taste". So did you enjoy it from the first time you had it or did you have to have it a couple of times before you really enjoyed it? Oh, and you also add/dunk in potatoes?
Since I was not a fan of sauerkraut when I was little, I didn't really care for zelňačka then. Now I love it. In my family, it's made with potatoes and sausage. Yummy!
And do not forget about the sour cream on the top of it! I think we Moravians are born with the love of sauerkraut in our genes...
Vemu to kratce, je uz moc hodin. Nejlip je pouzit vodu a nejaky maso kdyz varis sunku. Jinak kup kus uzenyho, nejlip zebra nebo kolinka (ne ten v ty fusakli, to je hroznej crap) a var je z cibuli, cesnekem, korenovou petrzeli a mrkvi (jestli moc slany, prihod bramboru a pak ji vyhod). Var maso skoro do meka. Sced polivku, nakrajej maso na kosticky, pridej dve az tri na kosticky brambory a rezetrenej cesnek. Proplachni balicek "kosher" saurkraut, ale ne moc, jinak je planej, trochu ho prerizni na parkrat at neni moc dlouhej a hod do polivky. Pridej smetanu (heavy cream), ne sour cream! Ochut octem jestli potrebuje a zahusti moucnou zalivkou, ne moc jen aby to nebyla uplna ridka voda. Vopatrne s tema bramborama, at je nerozvaris! Enjoy Jan
