Moci or moct?

Postby Lorenzo » 18-May-03 23:24

Ahojky lidi!

What's the correct infinitive form of "můžu"? Is it "moct" or "moci"?
My Czech textbook says it's "moct" but the grammar notes on my phrasebook claim it's "moci".
I'm convinced that "Zitra budu MOCI prohlížet město celý den" is correct but I have also found "Nebudeme MOCT" in my textbook? Could it be both forms are correct?

Both forms of the infitive are correct. "Moct" is more informal and colloquial, "moci" is more formal. The same with "říct" and "říci" and some other verbs.
