Hi to everyone, I'm a spanish fan of Eurovision, and I reading than the Czech Republic will be participate in the nest year (in Helsinki, Finland). I read than in this moment the Ceska Televize (¿?) is preparing the public preselection to choose the czech represent.

    Is that true?

If that is true, who singers do you want to be the future first czech represent in Eurovision Song Contest??

I'm spanish, but I have music for others counties, incluided the CR, and I prefer to Verona  great music.

PDT: Sorry with my english

I'm afraid, that most of Czechs have never even heard about it.

    Anyway, from Wikipedia:

...on 19 April 2006 the Czech national Broadcaster stated that they would enter the contest in 2007.

The Eurovision Song Contest broadcaster for the Czech Republic is Ceska Televise.

Ahmmm, not. The Eurovision Song Conetst is only to the active members of the EBU-UER a international corporation. Only the active can participate, but the EBU-UER has others members, the associate members, that cant participate (USA, Japan, India, Venezuela and others countries)

Associate members: http://www.ebu.ch/members/members_associate.php (They can't participate in Eurovision)

Active members: http://www.ebu.ch/members/members_active.php (They can participate, if they want)

The Czech Republic is the last european country to participate in Eurovision.

Many years the Ceska Televise said than They didnt participate in ESC because they havent money enough (?), but i think than isnt a problem because Monaco participates and i think, than the monegasques havent a lot of money...

The active members than didnt participate in this moment are:

    - Algeria (For the problems with Israel)
    - Austria (This country didnt participate in 2006, but it's probably than they will participate the next year)
    - Czech Republic (Never has participated)
    - Egypt (For the problems with Israel)
    - Georgia (Probably they will participate the next year)
    - Hungary (They participated in 1994, 1995, 1998 and 2005)
    - Jordan (For the problems with Israel))
    - Lebanon (For the problems with Israel. This country could participate in 2005, but in the last moment, they retired because they didnt want put the israeli perfomance in the show and the EBU-UER is eliminated their)
    - Lybia (For the problems with Israel)
    - Luxembourg (The last time in participate this country was in 1993)
    - Morocco (They participated in 1980, because Israel didnt participate that year. never have returned)
    - San Marino (It isn't probably)
    - Your neighborus from Slovakia (They participated in 1994, 1996 and 1998)
    - Tunisia (For the problems with Israel)
    - Vatican State (They haven't a public television, they have only a radio)

I think than the Czech Rep. participate in the next year, the neighbours, Slovakia could participate, i dont know

Before 1993 Czechoslovakia was a member of the OIRT (= Intervision) with its own contest in Sopot (Poland).
There is no tradition to participate in ESC in our country.

ok, so - by this article:
    http://lidovky.zpravy.cz/v-eurovizi-pop ... _domov_fho

Czech republic really will be participate in next year.

National contest will start in March 2007. Pre-selection will be based probably from radio stations top-tens.
Winners will be selected by viewers (by SMS and e-mail votes).

Yes, but Intervision was a contest, normally, with the east countries (incluided the East Germany), but now, it isnt celebrates (i think)

But Slovakia, Poland, Russia, Estonia, and the rest, were participants in Internervision, and now are participants in Eurovision (Estonia winner in 2001, Latvia winner in 2002, Ukraine winner in 2004)

Ceska Televise was invited to participate in ESC a lot of times, but ever they said the same ("they haven't the money enough").

Yes, that i know, and it's great than the CR starts now. Here in Spain, the TVE (TeleVision Española) choose all in 1 month..., this last year, a intern election (Las Ketchup) and it was patetic...

The Czech TV has not its own money. First of all the CTV would have to ask us, the licence fee payers, if we want to spend our money on such events like ESC.

I pay 100 Kč monthly and I should vote NAY. But the CTV certainly will not give us such possibility.

Like many public televisions, Czech television is financed from television licence fees. They are compulsory by law for every tv owner (soon for every user of electricity).

But this isnt a problem. Czech Rep. is the 21st country with more money of the eurovision countries (21/50 ..)
