A special exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Crowned king of Bohemia
in 1347, Charles IV sought to make his capital city—Prague—the
cultural rival of Paris and Rome. The remarkable flowering
of art that resulted is being celebrated in an exhibition
that draws together some 200 stunning examples including
panel paintings, goldsmiths' work, illuminated manuscripts,
sculpture, silk embroideries, and stained glass.

The Kolache Festival is a Czech & German
festival with music, food, and fun. There is a parade,
car show, kolache eating contest, live polka music in the
biergarten and much more.

BrewNost is an annual fund raising event that the National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library featuring over two dozen beers from seven European countries, South America, as well as the United States. The event also includes Moravian wine, hot jazz music, fine international foods, a silent auction, and a raffle drawing for a trip to Prague.

is holding their annual homecoming. There will be a Czech dinner,
booths and dancing with music by the "St. Louis Czech
Express"
and the St. Louis "Button Box Club". Admission

cookoff celebrations in one of the world's largest tented biergarten.

The spring festival is an indoor annual
event that includes polka music, dancing, singing, ethnic food,
and bake sales including kolace, and Czech-related demonstrations
and displays. Jewelry and crystal from the Czech and Slovak Republics
are available, and much more.

The celebration has kept alive the
heritage of the early founders of the little South Dakota community
who came to Tabor from Czechoslovakia as early as 1869.
What started out as a small community celebration, has grown
into an attraction that draws thousands of people each
year. The little town of 400 people and the surrounding rural
community has attracted as many as 10,000 people to Czech Days.

"Polka Music, Bands & Dancing
- A Czech Tradition"
Wilber, Nebraska, a community
of 1,700 was designated the Czech capital of Nebraska in
1963 and of the USA in 1987. The town is rich in
Czech history and cultural tradition and provides visitors
an old-world atmosphere. Over 30,000 visitors come
to partake in the festival each year and celebrate Czech
traditions. One can find Czech musicians, dancers,
arts and crafts, food and drink, and much more.

This annual homecoming, called Pražská
pout, has changed
very little over the years. Every year thousands come
to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption
at St. Mary's Catholic Church and its founding in 1855.
You'll find plenty of Shiner Bock, fried chicken and
other tasty food. The oompah music begins after the 10
a.m. mass.

Westfest is a Czech/Polka festival
that has been celebrated since 1976. Each year over 25,000
people head to the Central Texas town of West to enjoy
a family blend of food, culture, dance and just plain Czechoslovakian
fun!

The Kolache Festival takes place
at the steps of the Burleson County Courthouse in Caldwell,
Texas, every second Saturday in September. This festival
honors Czech descendants who live in Burleson County. Visitors
experience the music, food, language, art and dress of
the traditional Czech-American community. Come and be
Czech for a day and learn the history of the culture, dance
to
polka music and taste authentic Czech cuisine.
