The Prague International Marathon
(PIM) began in 1995. In 2008, over
5,000 people ran the marathon while another 30,000 participated in the non-competitive events during the year.
PIM is highly regarded by marathoners world-wide for offering one
of the most visually stunning courses.
Every year PIM continues to add to the opportunities for runners and visitors
to enjoy. The non-competitive runs have existed since the
start of PIM but they have expanded to include: Family
Run 4 km, City Run 8 km or In-Line Race 10 km. In 1997
the first Junior Marathon Championship and 5&10 km Grand
Prix was held. In 1999 PIM added the half marathon and
the Marathon Music Festival. In 2006 PIM organized for
the first time the Corporate Half Marathon relay.
