What You Will See: Konopiště
Chateau and gardens (closed Nov. - March), Velké Popovice
Brewery
The beautiful medieval Konopiště Chateau
is connected with the name of Archduke
Franz Ferdinand d'Este, successor to the Habsburg throne, who
rebuilt the castle to its present Romantic look at the end of
the 19th century. Konopiště is known for its large collection
of Ferdinand's hunting trophies and weapons, antique furniture
and art objects, as well as its Rose Garden. After touring the
chateau, you will visit one of Czech Republic's best known breweries,
the Velké Popovice Brewery, where you will learn
about beer brewing and taste some wonderful, freshly
made beer. After arriving back in Prague, you will
be dropped off on Wenceslas Square or, if a large bus is used,
at the Hotel Intercontinental located within a 10-minute walk
from Old Town Square.
