Hi, I’m Colesa from Girona (near Barcelona), and this is my first post. I’ve never been to the Czech Republic, but this will change this november (I’m planning to come and visit the country for a week, more or less...). Low – cost companies (I won’t say which one, but I suppose you already know :) ) have been a great revolution here. As I live really near from the Girona airport (the south European base of one of this companies) now is possible for young people like me to travel a lot... I’m really glad for that! And now we have really cheap flights to Brno :p

As I’m coming by myself I’m looking for as much information as possible, and is this way that I’ve come to know you!! The advice and information given both by your web page and the forum is being really useful, and I decided to register to get more useful info and to get to know better the country before I discover it by myself.

It’s nice to be here in the board (and it will be nicer when I’m there in Czech Republic!).

    Welcome.

I have a little question for you:

I am plannig short trip - weekend (4-5 days) with my frinds. We decided to go either to Barcelona, Rome or Paris. As you said there are cheap flights to Girona from Czech rep.

Can you please tell me how to get from Girona Airport to centre of Barcelona? I only found information about some 15€ one way what I consider too much.

    Thanks

Thanks everybody for your kind welcome (and specially to Ceit... improving your catalan? The only thing to say... as I'm a girl, it would be "benvinguDA", but that's the minor thing :p)

For DjAvatar: there are many ways of going to Barcelona from Girona. You can take a bus that goes from the airport to Girona city; this leaves you in the train station, where you can take a train to Barcelona for 6,45 € (one way). You can check the timetables here:

    http://www.renfe.es/aviso.html?page=hjh ... F=NaN&ID=s

And then, there's a bus that goes directly from Girona airport to Barcelona, it costs 12 euros for a single ticket, and 21 euros the return. Check the timetables and prices here (they are connected with Ryanair flights):

If I can help you in anything else (what to see, how to get there) just tell me. And I would advise you that if you're going to Barcelona, you SHOULDN'T miss a day trip in Girona. I'm sure it's one of the most beautiful little cities you can visit. The "Barri Jueu" (Jew quarter) is the biggest and better conserved in Europe (exceptuating Jerusalem, of course :)), the river zone with its typical, colorful houses, and the Cathedral.

Just tell me if anyone wants some information of Barcelona or Girona itself!

I've just seen your introductory thread - I wasn't on-line much in August so I didn't see it then.

I'm sure you've been studying the Prague guide books so you'll probably have read all about it but in view of your own town's jewish quarter, you'll be particularly interesting in seeing Prague's.

    Thank you... I suppose! :p

And Polednikova, thanks for the advice. I already knew but it's good that someone from the place tells yo to go, then you're more convinced about what to see!

Edit: Now I know what "vítam vás" means... thanks! ;)
