Hi, my name is Mark - I live in a small village in Cheshire, England, about half way between Warrington and Manchester. My wife, Martina, is Czech (from Plzen) and although I have known her for about 5 years now my Czech is still quite elementary. I am an IT professional and routinely take exams for various industry and management qualifications each year and cite the revision time for these as being the main reason I haven't been able take the time to learn Czech. Clearly, this is an excuse! One of the main reasons for me joining this community is to improve to such a degree that by this time next year I am able to hold a reasonable conversations in Czech - and be able to speak to my parents-in-law directly for the first time without resorting to pseudo-sign language and simply smiling a lot!
