    Ahoj,
I have big news! I just found out that my Czech husband and I are going to have our first baby!
I haven't told him yet and I wanted to tell him in Czech.
How do you write: "We are going to have a baby"? Or "You're going to be a dad"?
Also, are there any Czech traditions for this news?
Looking forward to any help and thanks in advance!
    So excited!

Ahoj and congratulations!! [IMG] Here are your two sentences:

"We are going to have a baby" - "Budeme mít miminko"

"You're going to be a dad" - "Budeš tatínkem"

I don't know about any traditions associated with this type of news.

    Dejuki Dana! (pardon the spelling)
I still haven't told him the news! What I plan on doing is writing this on a card and then I also bought him a book written in Czech titled: Zazracna cesta na svet, so I am sure that will be Enough Said!
P.S. Just a note, I found a site that sells books written in Czech if anyone is interested, it's: czech-books.com

    Cau, cau,

    Ahoj!
Thanks for asking, it went very well. I gave him an early Valentines Day card that read "From the both of us" and signed it love me and ??? and then wrote the Czech phrase that you gave me. I purchased a book from Czech-Books.com (they are out of Canada) that was titled "Zázračná cesta na svět" by Rainer Jonas. It was a jaw open sort of moment...LOL
He could be heard mumbling the word "wow" every few minutes...
I am having a maternity shirt made that says: "Czech in here!"
He has called his parents in CZ and I think his mother is coming to stay with us when the baby is born. She doesn't speak a word of English, but she has raised 3 boys so I guess we will do alright together not speaking.
It should be interesting anyway and I will be grateful for the help when the time comes.
Thanks again for all of your help!
CZfan and the 1/2 CZ to be!
