Hello. My wife and I are planning a trip to Prague this summer :D and I was hoping someone could recommend some good shops for buying Czech garnet jewelry and crystal. Thanks!

you might look up Jablonec n.n., CZ in google --it's about a 90 minute bus ride from Prague -- that is where the custom Jewelry, glass etc is made... Viktor

    Hi!

I can reccomend you my favourite Czech crystal shop. I don't have a good survey about the prices but compared with other shops I've visited, they seems quite reasonable.
Anyway, it's in Josefov (Prague). Close to Oldnew Synagogue (Staranová synagóga) and Old Jewish cemetery (Starý židovský hřbitov) - both also worth visiting. I don't know the exact address, but it should be on the corner of Široká and Maiselova streets.

    Hi Zane,

although the stuff you mention is manufactured up in the north of the Czech Republic, Prague is the best place to do the shopping for it.

Viktor wanted to write 'costume jewelry' in conjunction with Jablonec nad Nisou. That, however, does not include garnet jewelry which is traditional production in the town of Turnov, a bit of distance from Jablonec.

You may actually want to try some Web search before you travel. Don't forget about the British spelling of 'jewellery' as it's also used on Czech websites. There are sites like http://www.pragueexperience.com/shops_markets/shops.asp, http://www.glass.cz, and http://granat.cz/...
