Sooner than I thought...

Just got back from a two day course learning some new aircraft movement and parking software - things have gotten a bit tight so it will be the weekend of June 20, 21, and 22 when I will be there (my traveling companion's older brother just died in Puerto Rico so we need another week - he is down there for the funeral now and will be through the weekend - next weekend I will be in Pensacola, Florida to visit my sister - just too much too quick so I am moving it a week) - can hardly wait. Friday the 20th or Saturday the 21st would be fine to meet you all at Pivovarsky Klub - no problem to find it,

Will write more soon, just got back home (was away from internet for almost three days = thought I would die :shock: )

 

Works for me, friday even better than saturday.

EDIT: There is an exhibition of the artifacts from RMS Titanic taken from deep bottom of the Atlantic ocean, so this is gonna by my excuse for going all that way to Prague :-D

Btw., has anyone been to that exhibition? Is it worth it?

 

Glenn, I'm sure they run courses in your wonderful country for those suffering from computer addiction! There are times when I regret not having an internet connection at home, but I just think about all the time I used to waste..

Right. I'll just check with my other half to make sure he hasn't committed us to something on Friday 20 June, and through this post, ask Jeff if he has a better idea than my booking a table at Pivovarský klub. If not, what time should I book for? 7pm? They do food as well so locals can either eat at home beforehand or have something there.

It'd be handy to know how many can come. It might be an idea to do a separate posting, under travel, just to make sure that everyone sees it who would like to meet Glenn. I'm happy to do it when I'm next on-line, probably Monday, unless Glenn wants to do it before then - we could call in GlennInFlorida comes to Prague!

Friday and Saturday both work for me. Friday at 7pm sounds good.

Polednikova, Pivovarský klub seems like a fine choice and it would be nice of you to book a table. Do they have a non-smoking area or room?

Friday 20th, 7pm, works for me, I will be probably all day in Prague to do some sightseeing, as most of you know Prague much more better than I do.

But I have to catch a train back home at 0:06 (přes to nejede vlak ;-)) not to miss my own sat21/sun22 graduation party.

Hope they have something else but beer in Pivovarský klub as I will be pretty hungry after all the day in Prague.

 

Sounds like this is going to be a fun gathering!! What a pity that I don't get to Prague until early July I would have loved to join in and meet all of you. Maybe next time.

It's my birthday on the 20th so have a drink for me :wink: I wish i could be there with you. I'll be thinking of you all.

 

So it looks as though it's Pivovarský Klub at 7pm on Friday 20 June. I'll book a table this week and ask about the smoking arrangements, Jeff. I think upstairs is non-smoking but I can't say I've ever noticed - I don't smoke but it's never bothered me.

And yes, they do food. It's a more varied menu than you would think for a place whose raison d'etre is beer but the beer is the main reason for going. They have loads of different sorts from all over the country and six on draft. For someone who had never drunk beer before coming here, I now wouldn't drink anything else!

Happy birthday, Glenn! And just to let you know that at the moment, you will need those summer shirts here in Prague. The weather is really hot (well, to a Brit, anyway), late 20s/early 30s, and there are a lot of men walking about in shorts and sandals.

That's not to say that we haven't had rain later on in the day but even then, the temperature hasn't been dropping much. I'll let you know if it cools down before you leave.

 

Good news, Jeff. I've just checked with PK and the ground floor, where I've booked, is non-smoking.

If you're starting to think about packing, Glenn, it looks as though you'll be needing a sweater or a jacket as well. It's got quite a bit cooler, about 19 degrees this morning, and nowhere near as hot as it was last week.
