Example: "Hello my love" (which is the way my husband answers the phone when I call him (via caller id) First please translate with a girl speaking to a man. Then with a man speaking to a girl. Thank you
I think it does not matter now if a man is speaking to a woman or conversely. It could go: "Ahoj, moje lásko!" or "Ahoj, lásko moje!" or "Ahoj, má lásko"
He calls me milačku also, but I didn't know it meant "my love" I thought it was like "Sweetie" or "Honey" or something like that. Thanks for the answers everyone.
Yes, "sweetie", "honey" or "darling" are the best translations for "miláček" but the most literal translation is "beloved" (it's derived from verb "milovat" = "to love"). "Miláčku" is casual, "lásko" is less frequent but more poetic. And btw, in Czech it's absolutely comprehensible without possessive "moje/má" (= my).
