    Hello,

I'm wondering if you can help me with my doubt.

What are the notice periods according to the Czech Labour Law?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

    Cheers,

    Hey,

Thanks a lot! That is helpful.

I'm wondering if this is similar to Poland. According to Polish Labour Law an employee must serve 1-month notice period after he/she has been working for one employer at least 1 year (but no longer that three years). After being employed over three years he/she must serve 3 months notice period.

Please let me know if this is somewhat similar in Czech Republic.

    Cheers,
    Krzysiek

Wow! In the U.S. there is only a "guideline" of giving two weeks notice. What about employers? Are they required to give their employees notice on firing/laying them off? (BTW, I moved this topic to the Business forum, since it is not related to a specific job offering).

Here it's in detail in Czech (if someone wants to translate):

Thanks, eso. Pretty gory stuff, though--not for the faint-hearted foreigner to try to digest, for sure. I didn't read the whole thing, just skimmed it, but got the impression that under some circumstances, it's okay to fire/lay off some one immediately only under certain circumstances, and also that the employer (again in some instances) is required by law to help the former employee find a new job. Wow! I had heard that starting a new business in the Czech Republic was a major undertaking, much more difficult than in the U.S. Now I have a better understanding of why.
