I used an online translator and sent a response; now I got this back...

    Dobrý den,
v príloze vám posílám seznam Zidu, kterí válku neprezili. On je problém
    s
temi seznamy, protoze jich existuje nekolik a lisí se. Ten nás byl
    vytvoren
hned po válce a my mu veríme. Seznam tech, kterí prezili nemám, ale
    jeden z
nich je pan Fischl, který zije v Izraeli. Posílám vám na nej e-mail,
    dobre
se s ním znám a jiste vám rád pomuze. fishesh@_nospam_013.net.il
Preji hodne úspechu v pátrání. Smetanová

Am I being asked to email fishesh@_NOSPAM_013.net.il for this information?

    Good day,

As an attachment, I am sending you a list of Jews, which didn't survive the war. There is a problem with such lists, because there are several and they differ. This (our) list was created immediately after the war, and we believe/trust it [is accurate]. We do not have a list of those who survived, but one of those (survivors) is Mr. Fischl, who lives in Israel. I am sending you his e-mail. I know him well, and he will certainly help you. I wish you much success in your inquiry.

    thanks SOVA

at the top of the attachment it says:

Tito Zide, puvodem z Horazdovic nebo v Horazdovichich usazeni, prisli za doby okupace o zivoty..

I think this means: Lists of Jews born in and around Horazdovice that were captured during the occupation

    am I close?

...that lost their lives during the occupation

If you email the man in Israel, take out the "nospam" and the underscores before and after...people often do this to publicly available email addresses to foil spambots...

    Good luck!

I put the "nospam" in there, for exactly that reason

ARGH-- about 30 percent or so on that list were members of my extended family

Now I know why my grandmother didn't want to talk about things back in "the old country"

Luckily I have found (long-lost) descendants of one of her sisters that also came to the USA...so its not a completely sad story
