Would it be appropriate to wear long fur coat in Prague?? will be there end of November. Will be doing the tourist stuff, walking around, shopping, visiting museums, taking streetcars and metro. I do not want to look like an idiot and be the only one wearing fur. I also do not want to attract attention if I am the only one wearing a fur coat. Do most people wear fur coats there in the winter??

Czechs don't really wear fur coats, not even in Prague. It's definitely not something you commonly see, even among tourists. You wouldn't look like an idiot unless the weather is mild :), but you might be one of very few people wearing fur even if it's freezing. You'd look more inconspicuous in a regular jacket or long coat. If you're worried about cold temperatures, you can wear a specially insulated jacket (e.g. The North Face is somewhat common here) or a wool sweater/coat.

I was in Prague in early November about two years ago and it wasn't all that cold. Don't remember anyone in fur and I would probably notice because that is something you never see where I live (well, maybe fur trimmed flip-flops  ). It will be nearly 80F (26C) here today - November was about the same.

My grandmother had and worn fur coats (last time more than 2 decades ago though, I remember being fascinated by it as a child because it had either heads or paws of the animal the fur coat was made of on it), my mother and my late aunt both have fur coats but they really don't wear them often. Fur coats are meant to be worn only when it's really cold (I would say like at least -10-15°C or colder) which doesn't happen very often here. I believe they used to wear them e.g. to the theater when they were dressed rather formally. But none of them have lived in Prague, but if it's only about weather, it's not different here.

By the way it was nice spring weather here today, up to +20°C in some parts of the country.

I was in Prague in February and didn't see any fur coats to speak of.

Seeing this again has reminded me to have another look last week. (Today wouldn't have been a good day to look - it was 20 degrees when I came out of the flat!)

Yes, there are fur coats in Prague. Not a lot but there are some very nice ones out there that I have deeply coveted. Let's just say I wouldn't feel out of place wearing one here whereas in London, I'd be worried in case some animal welfare extremist shouted at me!
