You cannot simply translate cake as "dort". Dort in czech is much more specific than cake in english - this is what "dort" means in czech: and pretty much nothing else.
they may look good but they're usually so sweet you'd never want to even see one again after eating just a couple of mouthfuls of it (at least that always happens to me)
I doubt they are that sweet compared to most American desserts. I've tasted most Czech desserts and the sweetness by far pales in comparison. So those above are probably comparative to American desserts.
