I think it's probably more slang for a lazy person.... couch potato....someone who just sits on the couch all day couch surfer...never heard this before, but I'm guessing.....someone who spends a lot of time on the couch with his tv remote control switching through the tv stations. surf the internet....go from web site to web site on the internet
It all depends on context. But urban dictionary also says: couch surfing 1. A cheap form of lodging used mainly by college-students or recent college-grads, where one stays on acquaintance's couches rather than a hotel.
Have you heard the expression "mouse potato"? Means someone who stays glued to the PC and mouse surfing the internet and playing PC games all the day long
But your suggestion is probably where they got the name from in the first place! Edit: Having read it properly now, I see that no, it probably isn't!
Couch surfing is also a large online group where you can stay at another member's house or apartment for free if you reciprocate with another member. Here is a link: http://www.couchsurfing.com/
now you've piqued my curiosity.. anybody have a bloody clue how to convey 'Couch Surfing' in Czech? is there even an equivalent? Heres a few stabs in the dark for ya'lls entertainment: 1) Pohovka surfování 2) zůstávat v pohovka bez peněz 3) jako nejaky pension ale bez placení 4) cestujici obchodovani 5) dočasný postel
I think "přespání" is the word you are looking for. (pass the night at ) How to use it: "Jedu zítra do Prahy na oslavu (mejdlo/mejdan) , potom přespím u známých a ráno pojedu zpátky." "Přespím u kamaráda" maybe: Cestování s přespáním (přespáváním).
mejdlo (mýdlo) is soap, but in slang it could mean "party", too Mejdlo is from mejdan (party, too) - (originaly from arabian mejdán - "open/free space")
To bylo včera mejdlo (party), co? Neřvi tak, mám kocovinu (hangover) jako prase (big). Nejdřív jsem si dal jedno točený (beer), pak bublinky (champagne/fizz), na to houbu (cola and red wine), beton (Becherovka and tonic), bavorák (Fernet and tonic) a pak jsem běžel hodit šavli (vomit). :? Yeah, sometimes might be difficult to understand.
Všichni vědí, že není to dobrá myšlenka, aby smíchal nápoje. Musí jinak zaplatit d'ablu, a nikdy není zabava, aby zaplatil těmu požadováním tvoru. Začínáš-li noc s točenem, skonč noc s točenem. Dávej si pozor na všichni ostatní.
