Hi all, My name is Mel, I've been living in prague since May, with my Czech boyfriend. We met in London where I lived for a year, then he decided to move back to CR, so I took the chance and came with him. I'm so glad I decided to come, because I love it here! I have had some great experiences here and met amazing people. Of course, I miss Australia, the beaches and my family and friends (it's a long way to go home for Christmas!!) but I know that I'm doing something that so few of my friends will ever have the opportunity to do. I would like to stay in CR for a while, not sure about permanently, but I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it I'm working here, pretty boring job, but it pays the bills. As summer comes, I'd like to get more involved in some sporting groups and other communities. And I'm always up for a beer or two! Anyway, I look forward to getting to know some more of you. cheers! Hey Wissy, I'm working in an office, doing a finance job, which I'm not enjoying very much to be honest! I have no background in finance, in fact, my qualifications are in sport and exercise, but it was an easy job for me to come into when I moved here, so... I am picking up the language, slowly I take lessons at work twice a week, and my boyfriend tries to speak Czech to me as much as possible, I can understand a lot of things, I just find it difficult to use what I know. Sometimes his friends forget how much I can understand and get themselves in trouble!! I guess it's a matter of confidence as well, which I'm trying to work on Mel
Don't worry, Czech is a tough language and it will take lot of time before you can speak it perfectly. Don't worry about making mistakes and so.
Hi Mel, do not worry, I still fight with English too. Just Btw (as I already said, I work midnights) - but the reason why I work midnights is that I deal with Australian customers. So after I got used to American accent, I have to deal with the Australian one :cry:. Anyhow, welcome!
Hi Mel, Don,t blame you being bored with the finance thing. There is a finance department where i work and although it is not what i do, i would be bored to death if i did. I am spending about 2 to 3 hours a night trying to learn the czech language and loving every moment because i am determined to communicate in czech with some friends when i return to Prague in july, so keep battling with it and eventually it will all fall into place.
