A philosophy in search of validation. Nice rationalization. Correct grammar? I don't know. We'll see.
Absolutely correct! The only thing I would change is the comma in the last sentence (however, it has nothing to do with conditionals) - "A tak raději půjdu spát."
Aha... Konečně vidím světlo. Raději půjdu spát.....in english we would say...I would rather go to sleep.....So now I know future conditional in czech. Raději půjdu do divadlo, než restaurace, protože ještě jsem neuviděl film Avatar a všichni mi doporučují. Řikají mi, že to lituji pokud jej nevidím na velkou obrazovku.
But it is not conditional in Czech, it’s a firm decision. půjdu spát ~ I’m firmly decided to go to sleep šel bych spát ~ I would prefer to go to sleep Divadlo is not used for movie theatre. We call it kino. Obrazovka is a screen of a device, a cathode-ray tube or LCD… The screen in cinema is called plátno (canvas). As for Avatar, it’s a great spectacle, but the story is shallow.
out of curiosity does the comma changes the meaning of the sentence a lot ? I mean what is the difference between A tak, raději půjdu spát A tak raději půjdu spát divadlo = theatre kino = cinema na velké plátno = big screen is that right ?
I guess you are right there...it is not conditional....Půjdu raději spát celý den. But in english I guess we use the 'would' form in any future statement suggesting a preference. Kdybych nemusel dnes pracovat, spal bych až do dopoledne.
I would write it with comma only if what I ment is: "And so... (I want to tell something, but I decided rather not to)... I rather go to sleep."
. . . surely you copied that right out of Czech Step by Step, somewhere in Chapter 15 if I remember right? Petr, the lazy student. I miss him
