    Hello everyone,

My girlfriend has recently changed jobs and moved from Prague to Brno. I'm flying out to be with her for the New Year and I'm wondering how i
I'm going to get to Brno.

I know of the Czech Airlines "flights" to Brno, but I haven't been able to find anything about the train. Is it possible? I get sick on coaches so the CA "flights" don't fill me with great joy.

    Thanks for any help

I've found it easier and quicker to fly to Vienna, Easyjet for example, and then take the fast train up to Brno from the Sudbahnhof.

http://www.oebb.at/en/index.html then click Services & Travel for timetable.

Sorry, it's not Easyjet but Air Berlin / Fly Niki out of Stansted that's the cheapest option. Alternatively any scheduled flight to Vienna. If you look on a map Vienna is much closer to Brno than Prague.

Thanks, might do that next time.

Had been thinking about going there for a long weekend anyway, so it will give it a try. It also gives me a chance to have a scout around if I fly there first.

    Thanks again.

There will also be a regular London - Brno airline connection operating from February or March, I remember. Someone of those low-cost airliners, so I suppose not from Heathrow :)

Yes Halef, that would be Easyjet out of Stansted. I think they announced something in November about starting the route in Spring '05.
Do you think Brno will make a popular tourist destination?

It's not Easyjet, but Ryanair starts on the 24th March 05. Seems to be a daily flight departs Stansted 14.15 arrives Brno 17.20. Leaves Brno 17.45 arrives Stansted 19.00.

Ooops. You're right, Ryanair it is. ?3.99 for a flight !

    From £3.99....Plus Tax and Surcharges.

Also you have a very small personal baggage allowance. There cheap, but just be careful what you pack.

When I flew with them to Dublin, I was ok going out, but they charged me extra for my baggage coming back. The crazy thing it was the same stuff!!![/list]

I've made this trip many times and must suggest taking a bus, it's as comfortable as a plane, and quicker than a train. You just need to get from the airport to the metro, closest station is on the green line I believe. Just get a ticket for one trans fer, instructions also in English on the machines, cost less than 50 cents. Your destination is on the red line, station Flora. This site has a map: http://www.myczechrepublic.com/prague/prague_metro.html

Exit Flora and walk over to bus station, buses leave every half hour and a one way ride is about 5 USD...you may want to make sure you'll be taken to the station in Brno across from "Hotel Grand" simply because it's near the center and will probably be easier for your g/f to meet you. The trip is apx 2 hours though I've made it in 90 minutes a few times, depends if you get an express bus (the yellow 'student agency' is one express line) but 3 hours at absolute max. In Prague, unlike Brno, you can ask questions in English, best to ask younger people as they tend to speak English with a bit more confidence. Mainly you want Flora, and 'autobus' station and a ticket to Brno...so most ppl can direct you. Brno is cool!

The station's name is Florenc, not Flora.

If you read the original post the writer states that he gets sick on coaches which is why we're suggesting alternatives. Bus, coach, in this instance I think means the same.

I did a test quote on Ryanair and it came in at just under fifty quid round trip which is still excellent value. The baggage allowance is quite tight; better to make a trip spring or summer when you don't the warm clothing!

Thanks for all the replies etc.

I'll just go the train next week, couldn't face the bus/coaches.

I've already booked my Vienna flight for the end of January, so I'll give that a try.

    Veselé Vánoce!

Easyjet to Barislava is another option before the Ryanair flights. Be intersting to see if the Ryanair flights continue. They only have a few months available for booking when i last looked, not the whole timetable.
We,ve booked a few already...in fact we didnt realise but we are on the first one! Will we get a badge???
