My girlfriend and I will be in Prague for 5 days. It will be the first time for both of us, and we'd really appreciate some advice as to what to do during the day and night. We will be staying at a hotel on Narodni Obrany St. We are in our mid-20's.

    Thank you

    Hi,

You have selected an awesome place for your vacation! If you are spending all 5 days in Prague, you will have plenty of time to see everything. I saw just about all of the main tourist attraction in 2 1/2 days. I assume that you'll see all of the main areas such as the Charles Bridge and St. Vitus Catherdal. However, one of the most memorable and enjoying times I had was when I visited vysehrad castle area. It is very peaceful, much like a park. It is high up on a hill and has amazing views of the city and the river. Since your going with your girlfriend, it should be even more enjoyable. I can remember many lovers walking hand in hand there. Also, I didn't see any other tourist in the 3 hours I spent there. The people were nicer and I actually got a smile or two out of the locals. Its a short walk from the metro station.

GET A GOOD MAP WHICH YOU CAN PURCHASE LOCALLY..i suggest one that is foldable and laminated...AND ACQUIRE THE METRO PASS CLOSE TO THE NUMBER OF DAYS YOU WILL NEED. ..be aware that you must authenticate its usage by getting it stamped either on the tram or entrance to metro...faillure to do so can still get you fined if challenged by security...by the way it is a decided pleasure once doing so not to have to fumble for the fare realizing that you have paid your way, endorsed the pass, and have your ticket always on your person. ENJOY THE TRANSIT

I agree with Paul that Vyšehrad is a great place to visit. I have always enjoyed walking around there and it is a nice break from the busy center of the city. February can get pretty cold, so that is something to consider when planning your itinerary.

The official Vyšehrad website has some good information.

You can also get some ideas for your stay by looking at the Three Days in Prague page on My Czech Republic. You'll be glad you have more than 3 days here.
