Can anyone tell me the best place to change my American currency when I get to Prague this Friday? Who has the best rates, lowest fees etc...Should I go to a bank or is it more or less the same at the airport exchanges?

Good question! I would also like to know, where is the most useful to change money in Prague because those small money exchange offices that you can find everywhere, are pure robber!

    Hello,

I don't really know where you can exchange your cash best in Prague, but if you dislike the small places, you may want to try a regular bank. The large operations will have exchange offices. You may only think it's not a much better deal than the small sole traders' outlets; I'm not aware of any substantial differences in rates. You should only always consider the entire amount to pay for your transaction in order to possibly compare...

  4. The lowest commission can be found at the exchange office in Florenc bus station (Metro Florenc, lines B & C, follow the signs for C.S.A.D.). The exchange kiosk in the main station (Hlavni Nadrazi, Metro line C ) on the lower level in the middle has fairily good rates too. Avoid the fancy palces in the tourist quarters and at the airport.

rather than travelling with cash and using the services of exchange bureaus or banks, you might want to consider using a bank card (atm) to withdraw from automated teller machines -- i always found this to be a less expensive method, as you pay only the atm fees charged by your bank and no exchange fees...
