Could someone please give a Czech translation for such expressions like: Personnel management Public Relations Thanks! Helen
Hi Helen, I asked a native speaker of Czech to translate these two expressions and he said that "Personnel Management" is "Personální agenda" while "Public Relations" usually is not translated but it would very likely be "vnější vztahy" or "kontakt s veřejností". Mej se, Lorenzo
Děkuji, Lorenzo! And Halef, I didn't mean a department of a company but a speciality that you can study at university.
i would say "personální řízení" is better for personnel management and "styk s veřejností" for public relations might also be used
Hi Helen, the Czech language is showing many signs of having been influenced by English in the last 15 years, especially in areas where it lacks its own vocabulary. A literal translation of 'human resources' is a standard expression now and you will find a lot of websites with "řízení lidských zdrojů" (rizeni lidskych zdroju), which must be an equivalent to 'personnel management'. For 'public relations' I myself prefer a literal translation, "veřejné vztahy" (verejne vztahy). It's also a fact that most business people in the Czech Republic simply use the English expression or its abbreviation, PR... Jirka Bolech
