I just met someone wonderful who is from Czech... and I would like to learn how to say something like "you are beautiful" to this person. I would be really thankfull if anyone helped me with this.
Hello, You are beautiful = Jsi krásný (to a male) / Jsi krásná (to a female). If you want to address this person in a more formal way then it would be "Jste krásný/á". Lorenzo
I wonder if she is speaking of physical beauty, or of someone who is a "wonderful" person due to behavior and personality. I wouldn't use the word "krasny/krasna" in the latter case
If you want to say this to her (not write it), I would say "Seš krásná" is more colloquial. And it means more than beautiful - I'd say it's more like (AE) gorgeous. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, my czech is lousy...
well, if you want to flatter the beauty, you can say Jsi prekrasna (gorgeous) Jsi nadherna (ditto) Jsi jako bohyne (goddess-like) ok, ok, that's overdoing it
