Is it worth having a look at traditional dancing and music shows, if there are any? I like a good cultural experience when I visit a new country.

I heard something about Gypsy shows.

Can't help with traditional dancing shows but would suggest going to one of the Black Light Theatres - really excellent. Also you can't go to Prague without going to the opera. :D

Anu, I think you were very unlucky. The one we went to was stunning. Very spectacular very clever and very comic. There are many Black Theatre companies and productions. You take your choice. I'm sure there are good and bad, but don't be put off by one bad show. :)

I went to Black Theatre show in Svetozor some years ago and I was sorry that we were sitting in the middle of the row. I never left any show in my life, but this one I would have.

Bibi, pls note that Black Theatre has absolutly nothing in common with folklore show.

There are few folklore shows on separate bus tours (Tourist office)cca 1000 Kc/each some including only show, or all drinks or dinner and all drinks. It is actually dinner with entertainment. I went once, show and dinner were very good, but there are more places tours go so it could be toss up. I checked these places some time ago and they only serve bus tours. Bus tour won't take you back to your hotel, so you will have to consider transportation from centre of Prague. Metro runs only till midnight and you have to get bus schedule.

You will be hard pressed to find some folklore show in Prague except for these tours. Depending on for how long you are going and when, there are some REAL folklore festivals going on in CR. It will be out of Prague, but CR is small and it could be early morning late return day.

    1. Pick any village in southern Moravia.
    2. Find out when the "hody" event takes place there.
    3. Come and enjoy :)

If you want to visit a folklore festival, the Strážnice one is quite good :)
And not to forget the "jízda králů" (ride of the kings) in Vlčnov.

Thank you so much. This is more than I was expecting. I will definitely go. I will traveling from Prague and I thing I will be staying overnight. Ay sugestion for reasonable, simple and clean accommodation? I have dates May 26 (Fri), 27 Sat. and 28 Sunday and I don't know if I should be planning this trip for all three days or one of them has main event. Should I plan to stop anywhere else, be accommodated in other town...make sure I don't miss anything on my way there or from there. I have time.

    The accomodation

Well, when I go to that area I stay at my aunt in another village, that is situated 22 km / 13.7 miles to NW of Vlčnov. But for other travellers the best accomodation would be in Uherské Hradiště like the biggest town in this area - 12 km / 7.5 miles to W of Vlčnov. You can choose your accomodation here.

Yes, I would reccomend to stay in Uherské Hradiště for those two night.
If I go your trip from Prague, my itenerary would be

    May 26, Friday

You're going by car, aren't you? Take the highway D1 Prague-Brno-Vyškov, then, behind Brno change for E50 strightly to Uherské Hradiště, dont forget to visit the castle Buchlov 4 km / 2.5 miles NW of Buchlovice and going through Buchlovice you can stop over there for sight-seeing the chateau and its garden.

    May 27, Saturday

If you don't visit Buchlovice during your Friday's trip to UH, come back there. Next you can visit Velehrad pilgrim church (UNESCO) and next village Modra for its open-air museum - the historical village is built accorrding to archeologic digs and plans of 9-10th century (Great Moravia) more here, the Czech language website only.
Another good spot can be Bata's canal, that I have never been ridden, but would like to in future.

    May 28, Sunday

That day only for The King's ride event and the trip back to Prague.

Magan, I hope that helps  .

One more mention about my visit of Vlčnov event last year. I have some pics from there. Who wants them, send me an e-mail to my pm.
