I am looking for an English/Czech + Czech/English translation website. Similar to this; http://freetranslation.paralink.com http://www.online-translator.com http://world.altavista.com These free translation websites do a fine job for English, French, German, Spanish and Russian w/cyrillics. However, no Czech or Slovak translation. Then I tried; http://www.tranexp.com:2000/Translate/result.shtml It gives too many results for the same word and when I try to copy and paste czech text it comes out totally wrong! Any other ones out there?
I haven't seen one online translator that does well. Often these online translations from Czech to English (or the reverse) come out completely unintelligible. That doesn't mean that such doesn't exist, but I haven't found one yet. Personally I don't put too much stock in such automated translators, since context is such a big problem for computers to figure out. Words that have multiple meanings are often incorrectly translated because of lack of context, or inability of the program to figure out the context. Usage is also often a problem, particularly with a highly inflected language like Czech, but perhaps a good program might still figure out the appropriate usage in most instances. I'm also not convinced, after briefly testing two of the translators you listed, that their translations are that good (at least not for Spanish and Russian). The quality of translation seems to be hit or miss. Some they nail, but others come out completely unintelligible or else with a totally different meaning.
