If you were to think of a dish that is distinctly Czech, what would it be and where in Prague serves it best?

I love svickova na smetane. That is definately my favourite Czech dish. So unlike anything else that I've had. I can't recommend a restaurant though, I've had it in several, but can't remember the names. My grandma's is the best though. But it's so yummy!

Probably this link could helps you.
I agree with svíčková na smetaně is wonderful, if it is make by fair means. But you can try any beef with sauce (dill, onion, horsreddish, tomato, with eggs, with cucumbers) and they are also very tasty. Also držťková polévka (tribe soupe) is good. And at every pub you can get fried cheese.

There is a "Favorite Czech Meal" poll going in this forum that will give you an idea of typical Czech meals and their popularity, at least with the board members here. :)

As far as Czech restaurants go, take a look at Prague Pubs and Breweries.
