I will be traveling next May with my son who is 14. Is there anything specific that kids his age can do, or just sightsee & shop? Are children allowed to the theaters?[/img]

no worries, children are allowed virtually anywhere except pubs/bars with a bad reputation, brothels, x-rated movies etc.
in castles, chateaux(sp?), museums, theatres, musical performances, restaurants and other places of tourist interest children are always welcome/tolerated

If your son has an interest in such things (trains, planes, and automobiles plus much more), be sure to visit the National Technical Museum - a really neat place.
