What Were The Name Of The Shipes?

    Can anyone tell me how I can find out the name of the shipes that left Germany for the U.S.A. in 1885? Thanks,SK

    Do you mean ships that left Germany (Hamburg, Bremen or Bremerhaven) and docked in New York? If that is what you mean, here's a website to try:

    http://www.immigrantships.net

    At the top, click and hold down on PASSENGER LISTS and scroll down to NY ARRIVALS. There should be two columns of years - 1885 will be in the right-hand column.

    To;hougreg1965, Thanks for the web-sit! It has proved to be very interesting! It was a long-shot. But sure worth the try. What about the ports in Galveston? I just keep thinking since Grandpa was in the southeast, I feel like he must have came to port somewhere in the south. I can't seem to find what his interest would have been in Southern Georgia. As far as I can find out he had no family here. Thanks again, SK
