Transportation to and from the Prague Airport

If you're coming to Prague to do some sightseeing and plan to use public transport, consider buying the Prague Visitor Pass, which provides access to many Prague's historical monuments, museums and galleries, as well as unlimited travel on Prague public transport, including from and to the airport.

Sign in a Prague Subway StationThe Prague airport is located about 15 km/9 miles from the city center. It takes approximately 25 - 30 minutes (40 minutes in heavy traffic) to reach the center by car and about 30 minutes on public transport (bus + subway).

After you get off your flight in Prague, you will have several options of arriving at your destination: public transport, taxi/Uber, a shuttle company, or a pickup previously arranged with your hotel.

Public transportation provides the cheapest way of getting to downtown Prague. It is easy to use, clean, reliable, and runs frequently. Taking public transport will involve some walking and the buses and subway can be crowded at peak hours, so if you have a lot of luggage, you may want to take a taxi/Uber or use a door-to-door transfer service.

Public Transportation from and to the Prague Airport

Taking public transport is the cheapest way to get to and from the Prague airport. The ride costs 40 CZK (100 CZK on the Airport Express bus - see below) and the transit system is quite easy to use.

Please watch your valuables if you're on public transport from or to the airport. It's hard not to look like a tourist on the airport route, especially if you carry luggage and speak a foreign language. You're also more vulnerable to pickpockets if you're distracted and have your hands full.

Public Transport Booth at Prague AirportTo take public transport, you will need a ticket for 30 CZK (valid for 30 minutes) or 40 CZK (valid for 90 minutes), which you can buy at the Public Transport Information booth at the airport or directly from the bus driver (he will charge you a little more). See our Tickets & Passes page for more information about Prague public transport tickets.

It is necessary to buy a separate ticket for each piece of luggage larger than 25 cm x 45 cm x 70 cm (10 in x 18 in x 28 in).

myCZ tip: Online Schedules and Connections
You can look up bus schedules at dpp.cz. As the airport stop, enter 'Terminal 1' or 'Terminal 2'; the terminals are only a few minutes apart from each other. Enter 'Nadrazi Veleslavin' (bus 119) or 'Zlicin' (bus 100) as the metro station to or from which you wish to travel. To see schedules and connections beyond that metro station, enter your destination or point of origin instead of the metro station. E.g. if you want to travel from the Prague airport to the Old Town Square, enter 'Staromestska' in the To field.
