Hi, I would like to learn a traditional czech song that people would sing when they are together (typical guitar, camp fire situation :0) and was hoping that someone could give me the lyrics to one of the most popular ones that most czechs would sing. If you could also send me a link that I could hear it too then that would be great (just for the phonetic sound) but not essental. Thanks Jay
This has been discussed here before but it seems it'll suit your needs well: Download the songs (mp3) from here: http://www.nohavica.cz/praha2006/prazska_palena.htm and their lyrics from here: http://www.nohavica.cz/cz/diskografie/alba/disk_prazska_palena.htm As for learning to actually play the songs you'll be best off listening to the songs several times and figuring out the chords/rhythm yourself. You can try to look for some transcriptions on http://www.akordy.sk but they aren't much good AFAIK. hope this helps
well, the intentions of fabik were all right, but it's not really what Jaybob asked, I believe. As an example, it works, but this album is not yet so well known (ok, I admit, everyone has downloaded it!) and people would not sing it by the fire. May be on this page you would find something like this: http://www.folkcountry.cz/. Nohavica's texts in English (not the same as from Pražská pálená) can be found on: http://www.nohavica.cz/cz/tvorba/preklady/en/tvorba/texty/texty_index_en.htm Translation in Italian available
sorry if I didn't get it right but anyway I think that a big majority of "campfire singers" will be somehow familiar with even the most obscure Nohavica song without even having heard it ever before. I think there must be something about his lyrics or god knows... btw AFAIK stands for as far as I know
