hey everybody :D i need to know how old do you have to be to go to a night club/buy alcohol/stay out at night etc. not that we were some spoilt kids, but we are going to visit czech and we need to know what opportunities we have to spend our free time at the age of 17 without getting into trouble :p

    Hi,

the age limit on everything (drinking, night clubs, ..) is 18.
HOWEVER, in this country, drinking limit is really not a big deal. Specially if you´re 17. You hardly ever find a barman who requires to see your ID before he gives you beer.

    Really?!
Is it common for 17 year olds to be drinking alochol in bars? How do the police/authorities react to this??

I think it is accepted by many people, that after you enter high school (15/16 years) you´ll start going out with your new friends. And that includes drinking (mostly beer). In recent years, the authorities started to control the youth drinking, so in some restaurants, they´ll probably refuse to give you alcohol, but there´s still a lot of those where the won´t bother you asking for an ID. Waiters usually tend to measure you by your appearance (whether you look on 18 or not).

Its the same the world over.....landlords/club owners make money from selling as much drink as quickly as possible. No matter who you are or your age. And when it kicks of they say....we never knew they were under age!!!!!
Remember they had the 6 o'clock swill in Oz.......and not too long ago at that!!!
