I do not recall that I was rude, so no need to back at me like that.

I was only quoting my friend...

and the ones who attacked me on how australia is: if you read carefully my posts you should have notice that I'm not very fond of western societies.

anyway, my personal beleifs are my own, you don't have to accept them but you cannot attack me about it. keep your problems for your self and believe in what ever you like.

and, the Eva's comment about my questions was realy way too much.
I have to start somewhere, if I started with visiting czech first and had an bad experience there -one would say "why didn't you look and ask around first?"
and btw, what is wrong to ask somebody's oppinion especially if you already have one?? wouldn't you ask for more opinions and theories?

and I did not find first relevant forum, I was with this board for some time now.

however, that kind of attitude does not suit me, so I'll just leave.

thanks everybody once more, who answered me kindly...

    G`day Judi,

    1. Pray don`t leave!
    2. Those who reacted as they did are either native Czechs or people with some relevant experience and knowledge of the CR. In other words, they know what they are talking about.
    3. If you`d known the answers to your questions, you wouldn`t have posted them. That`s clear. But re-read your initial post and tell me if there`s a single positive question. Your "I`m so sad" just adds insult to injury because you`d concluded that the statements in question were true before giving anyone a chance to reply.
    4. Ethics, politics, religion are notorious flamebaits, of which you should have been aware, and one ought to be very careful in putting or rather structuring and balancing his/her question(s) about them. (You are drunkards, barbarians, porn-orientated etc. What kind of kind replies do you expect?)
I know that quite a few Aussies can go ballistic if someone mentions their origin, that`s probably why some Aussies refer to Brits as pommies or poms. Though the correct spelling, as I was told, is, a POME (Prisoner Of Mother England). Australians want to be perceived as friendly, easy-going, but such remarks don`t sound so. (If I heard it only twice I wouldn`t bother posting it.). In my humble opinion, and from my humble experience, I don`t think that Australia is so morally advanced. (what does that mean anyway?)
    5. You are not fond of western societies but the CR is just one of those commercial and industrial countries. You knew this, didn`t you?
    6. Even Luddites and anti-globalazation protestors use global means (the World Wide Web, mobile phones) to summon their herds to smash a few fast-food joints. Why do you live in Brisbane and not in the outback, Judi?
    10. Instead of talking, wouldn`t it be better for you to do some voluntary teaching in the Third World? Please help, we are uncivilized and need proper education. We want to browse the net to stay abreast, we want to be educated, and we want to be part of the commercial world. Please help!

    Non-puritanically yours,

    Karel

    Judi:

Your initial post apparently was misunderstood by many, and given the wording used, I can understand why. Understand that many people are very sensitive to criticism, and that the criticism your friend leveled at the Czechs was considerably harsh (and in many ways both unfair and untrue). I'm glad that you are reconsidering your friend's words in light of what has been expressed here. I hope that you will not take the harsh responses you've seen on this thread to be representative of Czechs in general, that you will stay with us on the boards, and that you will not show the same impulsivity and hypersensitivity that others here have shown.

To the hypersensitive on this site:

Call off the lynch mob! Judi obviously posted this message here, hoping that someone would tell her otherwise. The kinds of things being said here will only give your fellow Czechs a bad name, and perhaps make another person embittered against Czechs, like Judi's friend apparently is. She's here to learn about the Czechs, not to insult anyone.

Questions? What questions? Judi posted a list of grievances and said how sad she was that her dream country had turned out to be sinful. No questions asked. Right?

A question does not always have to end with a question mark... Sova is right, there is no use and no need for such furious reactions. Please, Evo, do not start a flamewar.

    Judi,

I was the first one to ask you not to leave, but you know, I`m not worth the effort. ...But could you please refute the rumour that the hypersensitive never return?

Hi Judi. So your firend is a Croat? It just so happens that here in Switzerland, the Croats are largely responsible for large numbers of robberies, organised gangs, smuggling, house breaking tours etc....

thanks Sova, Halef, Karel and TM

I know that generalisation is never good idea, and almost always sounds foolish
as idealist I believed that there is somewhere country free of "mcdonalds" society

that does not mean that I thought that czech is "new world" country, but that it was stronger than cultural imperialism.
