Friends of Jan Masaryk and possibly my grandmother

    Hello,

I don't know where to start really. I understand that my grandmother was a friend of Jan Masaryk and I do have a copy of his response to her wedding invitation as proof. I would be interested in finding anyone that might have met her either in Prague or in London or any surviving friends of Jan Masaryk from the early 1940s.
I would rather not give too many details at this stage, but if someone has any real leads for me, I would be more than happy to do so.

    Thanks very much

Sorry but was Jan Masaryk one of the guys who killed Heydrich Reinhart? Name sounds familiar and I know one of them was named Jan something.

Jan Masaryk was Czechoslovakian diplomat and politician, son of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, the first president of the Czechoslovak Republic. Jan Masaryk was made Foreign Minister in 1940 (of the Czech government in exile in London) and the mystery of his death in 1948 has never been completely solved.

I tried the site, but all the contacts were in Czech... So I'm back to square one. Does anyone know how effective the Red Cross are at tracing relatives?
    Thanks again

Unfortunately it is in Czech only, you are right, Sali, because it is page mainly turned to Czech readers. I just thought on it as starting point to shift you further. Try send them a mail, however the web of Czech Institute of Contemporery History is only in Czech language, I am sure they speak English. I have no idea how to help you more, but they may know. Try it! I suggest Dr. Jaroslav Hrbek (hrbek @ usd.cas.cz), who is specialised to history of WWII.
    Regards
    Karel
