Can anyone tell me if a card has the postmark "Pigram in Bohmen," if it would have been mailed from here or if all mail went through here in 1907? The stamp is red, has 10 Heller and Kais Koenil, does anyone know what this means? Thanks, SK

Pilgram in Böhmen (German) = Pelhřimov v Čechách (Czech)= Pelhřimov in Bohemia (English)

Pelhřimov is town in Bohemia - see
    http://www.mapy.cz/search.py?objectType ... c_web&zm=4

I think it was mailed from post office in Pelhřimov or given in post box belonging to this office - possibly in some near village without post office.

10 Heller ("10 haléřů" in Czech) is price.

    1 Krone/Koruna/Crown = 100 Heller/haléřů/...

"Kais Koenil" is possibly K.u.k. - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K.u.k. for details.

Kaiserliche und Koenigliche K.u.K. (Imperial and King....) Official title of Rulers of Austria/Hungarian Rulers etc. K.u.K Postamt = I & K Post Office
in Czech also used C.a K. (Cisarsky a kralovsky...)
Hellers= Halere Monetary subunit of Austrian part of Empire ( Hungarian part of dualist empire used also "Fillers" etc.
Pigram (?) Are you sure with spelling? Check it again.
Check Austrian Philatelist sites on Internet. Vr.S.

So sorry, left out the L. It's Pilgram, not Pigram. Thanks for the information. SK

Wer. thanks for wikipedia site. I'll be getting information from here for a while! So much more to doing genealogy than who your ancestors were. Thanks, SK
