Roman dam bratrovi. Otci jsem koupil slovnik.

I'm going to buy a novel for my brother. I bought Father a dictionary.

I see that both brother and father are declined in the dative, being that they are the indirect objects. But why is it that neither novel nor dictionary are in the accusative? Are they not the direct objects? What am I not understanding correctly here.

    Thank you,
    Calvario

    They are in accusative.

    1. nominative - kdo, co? - román - slovník
    2. genitive - koho, čeho? - románu - slovníku
    3. dative - komu, čemu? - románu - slovníku
    4. accusative - koho, co? - román - slovník
    5. vocative - oslovujeme, voláme - románe - slovníku
    6. locative, o kom, o čem - románu - slovníku
    7. instrumental - s kým, s čím - románem - slovníkem

See what staying up too late does to you, can't see the forest from the trees. I have to laugh at the obvious this thread, is done and it is to accuse to accuse the Masculine inanimate haha.

    Later,
