Hello, I was wondering if someone could tell me about this last name. I am not looking for ancestors, but I'm just trying to find out what nationality the last name Husz is. It was my grandmother's name, who originally came from the area of Austria-Hungary and Czech/Slovakia. Is this a Czech last name? Thank you for the help!:)

Perhaps it is a Hungarian spelling of the Czech surname, Hus? I'm not sure, though.

Well, 'sz' in Hungarian is really pronounced as 's' so maybe this is a hungarian surname.

The combination 'sz' in my mother-tongue is very similar to the czech ''š'', so perhaps it has sth to do with Polish.

sz is very normal in Polish, so I would guess that is what it is. The name would be pronounced "Hoosh". So, it could be a Polish take-off on a Czech name, or a relative with a different spelling.
