I just wondered if anyone can tell me if anyone skateboards or rollerblades in Prague? Is it an oft seen sight? Are there any Parks where this is possible?
Yes, I see them by the National Theatre (NASTY BOYS), also by bottom of the Petrin on the stairs. I am sure that there are much better places and perhaps there is some info on internet. I will look.
o.k. here it goes. It took only a minute to search Google for "skateboarding prague". Just do that and you will find lots of info. One of the best one is on http://www.mysticskates.cz/main_html.htm And please don't do it by National Theatre. People just HATE to see it there. Why do it if you have an island to have a fun? Good luck and enjoy.
Thanks for the Tips Magan. That's exactly why I didnt just look on Google - Your Tip about not skating by the National Theatre : message understood I was after Local knowledge of good/acceptable skating spots. I dont like that skating is seen as yobbish or thugish but I also think that skaters often dont do themselves any favours by practicing tricks on busy walkways or by Grand buildings. As a guest in your fair City, I fully intend to conduct my activities with respect to those already there.... ...and I CAN'T wait to get there
If you don't want to skating on U-ramps and similar stuff, if just want to go skating (only riding, not jumping) you can go to the Letná or Stromovka park.
Yeah, Letná park, near the metronome (the red thing on the background of the photo) is traditional "meeting place" for skateboarders.
