In my Czech language book there is a few explanation about tense. So I need someone's help again ... "Dotaz: Bavil jste se třeba s Camoranesim či s někým dalším jestli budou pokračovat v Juventusu ? Přemlouval jste spoluhráče aby zůstali ? " My translation is For instance did you amuse with Camoranesi or with someone else if they will carry on in Juventus ? "bodou" is future ... "Bavil jste" is past tense... why it is not "budete bavit" ? I really hope that someone help me.
Your problem is not in the tenses, but in an inappropriate translation of the verbs. The verb “bavit se” means in this case “to talk/speak”. Bavil jste se třeba s Camoranesim či s někým dalším jestli budou pokračovat v Juventusu? = Did you talk for instance with Camoranesi or with somebody else, whether they will carry on in Juventus? Přemlouval jste spoluhráče, aby zůstali? = Did you talk your team-mates round to stay (in Juventus)?
