Hello! We’re Dana and Jeff, founders of My Czech Republic. Dana grew up in Moravia and Jeff is an American with Czech roots. We’ve lived in Prague on and off since 1993.

The story of My Czech Republic goes back to March 1998 when its sister site Local Lingo was launched in a small Austin, TX apartment. The two of us had just moved to the United States from Prague. We were eager to share with others what we knew about the Czech Republic and were happy to keep a connection to the country we left behind. In 1999, we brought Local Lingo with us to California.

Some three years later, it became clear that a major reorganization was needed. The amount of content that had accumulated on Local Lingo since its launch had to be reorganized and made more easily accessible to our visitors. We decided to start a whole new site to which all but language-related content would be moved.

My Czech Republic branched out from Local Lingo in January 2003. Since then, we’ve enjoyed bringing you first-hand information about various aspects of Czech life and helping visitors with their Czech Republic travel needs. Prague became our permanent home in 2004.
