Prague Boat Rides and Pedal Boats

You can take your kids on a boat on the Vltava. You can either book a ride on a steam boat or rent one of the many pedal boats that you can see on the river from spring to fall.

Vltava Pedal Boats (šlapadla)

There are several pedal boat rental companies on Slovanský Ostrov, which is the island across from the National Theatre, namely S.P.L.A.V, Slovanka, and U Kotvy. A rental starts at 200 CZK/hour. The pedal boats are easy to maneuver, so you can have fun while following a few simple safety rules. Remember that large boats always have the right of way! Kids can borrow a free life vest for the ride, and pets are welcome.

While you’re on Slavic Island, you can take advantage of the nice playground and spacious, clean public restrooms that are located next to the Žofín outdoor café.

Boat Ride to the Prague Zoo

A fun activity that can fill your day is to take a boat to or from the Prague Zoo. The Paroplavba company runs boats daily from May through August and on weekends in April and September. The departure point is at the Rašínovo nábřeží embankment between the Palackého and Jiráskův bridges and the ride takes about 75 minutes. Check departure times and prices at www.praguesteamboats.com.

You can also book a boat ride to the zoo through our partner GetYourGuide.
