1. Overview Tours of Prague
Spend a few hours on an introductory tour of Prague to get an overview of the city’s historical center and to get a feel for the location of the monuments. You’ll be able to note which areas and sights you particularly like and want to return to on your own.
Some tours are done on foot, others by bus or as a combination of a walking/bus/boat tour. They come with a guided commentary, either through headphones or from a live guide.
2. Prague Jewish Quarter Tours
The Prague Jewish Quarter is one of the most important Jewish heritage sites in Europe. It is part of Prague’s Old Town and forms a self-contained area that can be easily covered on foot.
The district was named Josefov after emperor Josef II and was added to Prague’s historical center in 1850. The city’s Jewish population lived in this area for centuries and was nearly wiped out during World War II.
Today, the Jewish Museum administers several synagogues, such as the Old-New Synagogue (the oldest working synagogue in Europe); the Pinkas Synagogue that serves as a memorial to the victims of the holocaust with almost 80,000 names inscribed on its walls; the astonishing Spanish Synagogue, and others. All of the synagogues have been beautifully restored and house priceless exhibits collected throughout the past.
3. Prague Ghost Tours
Stroll through the old city after dark and learn about its ancient legends and mysteries. Find out who roams the streets at night, approaches passers-by after midnight or appears on the top of Prague spires – at least according to legend. Prague has many dark stories connected to people and places. Take a ghost tour to not only be spooked but to get to know Prague in more detail and from a different angle.
4. Prague Food and Beer Tours
Prague has a varied culinary scene that is no longer just about traditional Czech cuisine. Join experienced locals on one of the popular tasting tours that visit selected contemporary restaurants and cafés. Or take a beer tasting tour to enjoy the national beverage that Czechs affectionately refer to as “liquid gold”.
