Prague is unfortunately as congested as most European cities and finding a parking spot can be a challenge. We recommend using public transportation as much as possible. If you have to drive and park, we have some tips for you below.
Street Parking
If you park your car on the street, make sure you don’t leave any valuables inside that could attract the attention of burglars
Paid Parking Zones
There are several types of parking zones in the city center:
Orange – short-term paid parking for visitors; payment can be made using a parking meter or a web application
Purple – unlimited parking for residents, 24-hour paid parking for visitors; payment can be made using a parking meter or a web application
Blue – long-term parking for residents and businesses; non-residents are not allowed to park in blue zones
Park & Ride Lots at Subway Stations (P+R)
Unless you have to drive and park in the city center, you will be better off leaving your car at a Park & Ride lot on the outskirts. P+R lots are located at many metro stations outside of the city center, e.g. at Skalka, Zličín, Nové Butovice, Chodov, Ládví, Letňany, Rajská zahrada, Černý Most, Nádraží Holešovice, Depo Hostivař. The purpose of these lots is to encourage people to take public transportation and improve the bad traffic situation in the center. Guarded lots cost only 20 CZK (0.80 EUR) for the day (4 a.m. – 1 a.m.). Unguarded lots are free. P+R lots open at 4 a.m. and close with the last metro around 1 a.m. If you don’t pick up your car before the lot closes, you will be charged a penalty of 100 CZK.
Parking Garages
You may have better luck finding a spot in a parking garage where your car will also be safer. Below is a list of some garages around the city center.
