Opening Hours
Center of Prague and Shopping Malls
Stores in the center of Prague and in shopping malls usually open at 9 a.m. and close at 8 or 9 p.m. Large supermarkets stay open until 8 or 10 p.m. and some are open 24 hours a day. Most stores in the Prague city center and in tourist locations are open on weekends.
The Outskirts of Prague
Stores outside of Prague and on the outskirts tend to open at 8 or 9 a.m. and close at 6 or 7 p.m. Large supermarkets may open at 7 a.m. and close as late as 10 p.m. Some stores are closed during lunch hours although this used to be a lot more common in the past than it is now. Except for large supermarkets, opening hours are shorter on Saturdays and most stores are closed on Sundays.
Almost all stores are closed at Christmas (December 25 – 26), on New Year’s Day (January 1), at Easter, and on some other national holidays.
